大崗山素有佛山之稱，風光秀麗，¬而位於其上的大崗山自然生態園區面積達80公頃，山泉水豐沛，竹抱林茂，曲徑通幽，栽植許多野生植物，是高雄西部平原獨特的生態資源之一。登山步道沿途多達20處可觀賞及休息的景點，如礦區陳列館、綠園及相思步道、自然公園、心涼亭、好涼亭、休憩木平台、觀景平台、瞭望台、木棧道、休憩廣場等，也是各學校戶外教學主要良好的學習場所。
