The "Estany Negre" is a lake located in the municipality of La Vall de Boí, in the region of Alta Ribagorça, within the National Park of Aigüestortes and Sant Maurici. The lake of glacial origin, is located in 2134 meters within Leader Caldes, at the entrance of the Valley Colieto. It has an area of ​​9 hectares and 35 meters maximum depth. Receives waters of Lake Colieto (E) and the drains of the "Riuet d'Estany Negre" (O). The lake lies at the foot of the imposing walls of the shade Peaks Comalespada (S) and the Needles Travessani (NE). To the northeast, above the escarpment rises on the lake is the Joan Ventosa and Cavell shelter; being the entry point to the Colieto Valley, which opens towards the east; from here you can enjoy breathtaking views of besiberri massif.
