蛇蛙石是芝山岩特殊的地質景觀─一整塊崩落的岩石。蛇頭朝向西隘門，守護西隘門，由兩塊大石頭相疊而成。西隘門的守護神為蛇蛙石，相傳石蛇是受開漳聖王的命令守護西隘門，據說蛇怕蜈蚣、蜈蚣怕蛙，所以蛇精請蛙來保護，蜈蚣就跑了。現在遊客只要通過西隘門，即可到達惠濟宮。
