On the N3 about 300KM out of Johannesburg and about 300KM to Durban you will find Makiti, an interesting place in the middle of nowhere. The building first reminded me of something out of the American South West, maybe New Mexico and it was a nice change from the cows and fields that had made up the scenery since leaving Johannesburg. They have a small restaurant and sell handie crafts such as leather goods, paintings, and carvings. If you are coming from Joburg and are looking for a place to eat keep going, the food was only OK and you will come to more selection in about 50 - 75KM. If you are coming from Durban and looking for something to eat, turn around and go back 50 - 75KM there is nothing past this until you are in Joburg. If you are just looking for a place to take a rest, then this is not a bad place.
