勸濟堂是金瓜石民眾俗稱的「祈堂廟」，祈堂路就是據此而命名。勸濟堂也是地區的旅遊中心，這裡飲食與休憩均方便，北面有景明亭可欣賞蜿蜒的金水公路、水湳洞與陰陽海，還可上朝日亭報時山棧道賞景，或是從旁邊的步道登上茶壺山、金瓜石露頭。往南就是著名的祈堂老街，可銜接至黃金博物園區，正西面就是國際終戰和平園區（英軍戰俘營）。
