John’s Courtyard (Jana Seta)

In the area occupied by Jana Seta, in the 13th century there was the first castle of the Riga Bishop. Here one can still see one of the two preserved pieces of the city fortification wall. Passing through the gates of the former Dominican Monastery it is possible to get to John’s Courtyard (Jana Seta). In the area occupied by Jana Seta, in the 13th century there was the first castle of the Riga Bishop, which together with John’s Church (Jana) he later transferred to Dominican monks. After the Reformation the cloister premises and the Church were transferred to the city. In Jana Seta one can still see one of the two preserved pieces of the city fortification wall.
