前鎮加工出口區高雄園區，舊名為高雄加工出口區，於1966年設立，面積達68.36公頃，是台灣第一個加工出口區。早期以勞力密集的產業為大宗，對台灣整體經濟立下汗馬功勞。近年來產業結構改變，已隨著時代俱進，轉變為以技術密集、高科技產業，例如積體電路、液晶顯示器、電腦零組件等為主。
