The Marienplatz – Our Lady’s Square – is the main square of Munich since 1158. Since 1908 the square is dominated by the New City Hall. Munich used to be the capital of the Kingdom of Bavaria. Nowadays it is the capital of the “Freistaat Bayern”, part of Germany.
