美濃原稱「獼濃」。在這裡，百分之九十以上的居民為客家籍，所以保有濃厚的客家風情，和傳統客家淳樸而豐富的文化特色。客家文物館的建築結合古時菸樓造型和合院的設計，融合客家沉穩的風格，以及多媒體設施和生態造景的創意規劃，展示美濃的各種相貌，同時讓民眾更接近文物。複製模型及文獻也方便客家後代子孫，或是研究人員了解世代客家族群的生活方式。文物館建築用色單純，也忠實呈現客家人勤儉刻苦的傳統精神。
