Hristo Botev Memorial Complex is located in the hometown of the Bulgarian poet and revolutionary - Kalofer. It is located on a hill above the town square, very close to the city center. There is a small square next to the statue of Botev and from there a beautiful view of the whole city is revealed. Hristo Botev was born on January 6, 1848, in the family of teachers Botyo Petkov and Ivanka Boteva. Died June 1, 1876.
The memorial is a full-length figure of Hristo Botev, made of granite. The figure of the poet is almost 15 meters high, and together with the pedestal, also made of granite, the height reaches an impressive 25 meters. Near the statue is a composition of 200 rifles in honor of all participants in the Botev detachment. On the steps leading to the monument to Botev, there is a relief of a Bulgarian lion measuring just over 3 meters, also made of granite.
Kalofer is located at the foot of Stara Planina, 17 km from Karlovo, 66 km from Plovdiv, and 159 km from Sofia. In the center of Kalofer, there is a large parking lot where you can leave your car, next to it is the square from which you go to the Hristo Botev Memorial Complex.
