Klek Mountain is 1182 meters high and is a part of Velika Kapela masiff in western Croatia, near city of Ogulin. Looked from far the mountain resembles a giant sleeping on its back. It is the subject of many folklore legends. One of them says that during a stormy nights witches, wizards and fairies from around the world gather on Mt. Klek and their screams can be heard all the way to Ogulin.
Because of its reach flora, Klek has been designated as a Botanical Reserve.
Thanks to the history of climbs on Klek and easy accessibility, this mountain is often considered to be the craddle and symbol of mountaineering and alpinism in Croatia.
