區內生態環境保留的相當完整，是台灣北部低海拔溪流峽谷生態環境的代表，動植物生態豐富，適合登山健行、森林浴、觀景、賞瀑、賞鳥、賞蝶、賞蛙、自然生態觀察及環境教育。每年春季一到，鳥來鄉櫻花及杜鵑花百花齊放，競相爭妍，是賞花的好季節。
