Orcombe Point Geoneedle nr Exmouth and Sandy Bay
England

The air was so clear when I took this image in March, such a lovely time of year for photography. Just passed the end on Exmouth beach is Orcombe Point, on the other side is Sandy Bay. A stunning part of Devon. This is the western end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and is marked by an obelisk called the "Geoneedle" It was unveiled by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, in 2002, at the inauguration of the World Heritage Site. The sculpture was designed and built by Michael Fairfax.

Sited high on Orcombe Point, the Geoneedle is constructed from a variety of different stones, representing the major building stones to be found on the Jurassic Coast and the sequence of rocks that form this part of the coastline.

I always enjoy viewing my immersive photographs, most of the time I don't stop and take in the view as I haven't time to hang around. It takes longer than you think to travel to these locations, even when you're on the way back home from a job it can be a good hour or more out of my way. It's worth it though, some of the views I see travelling around are amazing. So lucky to live and work in Devon and the South West.
