Packard and Pioneer Museum
Northland

This is the main Steam and Traction area of the museum. You can also see 4 fire engines, a 1939 V-12 Packard unrestored and in excellent condition, an 1873 Dubs steam locomotive which had a working life of 72 years, and a couple of platelayer’s railway jiggers – the one on the left completely restored and dating from 1897. With 52 Packard vehicles, and a combined total of 300 classic vehicles we are one of NZ’s larger collections, including 65 motorbikes, a range of early domestic items, tractors earthmovers and tons more. Summer opening times are Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, at 2pm. We take you through on a guided tour. We also have a small sample venue at the Town Basin in Whangarei open 6 days 10.00 - 4.00 (18 vehicles). Call 09-4380219, 027-4435060 or visit our website for more details www.packardandpioneer.co.nz

More About Northland

Auckland is the commercial capital of New Zealand but anything to the North can be considered "Northland". Preferred destination for tourists and workers alike when surf, sand, diving and fishing is involved. It has a solid rural base of Dary, Beef and Sheep as well as horticulture and wineyards. Whangarei is the regional city on the way up to Cape Reinga at the northernmost tip of the island.
