Salvation Mountain is an art installation of adobe, straw and paint. It was a 28-year creation of Leonard Knight (1931-2014). The installation’s theme is based on his version of Christianity with bible excerpts and symbols. The Folk Art Society of American declared it a folk art site worth preservation and protection, in May 2002 the U. S. Congress deemed it a national treasure. It is opened from dawn to dusk all year, primitive camping is allowed and parking.
