San Juan River at Rincon, San Juan County, Utah, USA
Utah

This area of southern Utah is called Rincon (Spanish for "corner").  Here Comb Wash and Comb Ridge meet the San Juan River.  This area is loaded with historical significance.  Anciently, Anasazi Indians inhabited the area and left buildings, trails and petroglyphs.

In the late 1800's Mormon pioneers traveled through this place on their way to what is now Bluff, Utah.  They managed to get their wagon train up on the bench by navigating the steep rock ravine seen in this image (looking down and to the east).

Today this place is visited by history buffs, nature seekers and river floaters.
