东北解放纪念碑（和平广场）在沈阳市和平区和平大街与新华路、民主路的相交处有一座标志着东北解放40周年的纪念碑威严矗立在和平广场正中央，该广场总面积为18521平方米，始建于1932年，当时称朝日广场，国民党统治时期称崇德广场，解放后定名为和平广场。

东北解放纪念碑采用三角亭式碑形，碑的总高度为36．56米。主碑高25米，设计为变形的三角形子弹，碑体均用汉白玉装饰，主碑下部三面刻有三个相连的英语字母“V”，并以40只展翅飞翔的鸽子浮雕烘托，“V”是英文“胜利”一词的首写字母，鸽子是和平的象征。简洁的图案意喻战争与和平的辩证关系和三省人民对和平的珍视、企盼和美好的祝愿。主碑外侧是顶部相连向下呈三角形环绕主碑的三条拱带，象征着三省人民载歌载舞，共庆胜利的欢乐场面和对英烈的崇敬和悼念。
