本瀑布的上游短，瀑布上游似乎沒有明顯的溪床，水源宛若地面突然冒出，事實上為本山六坑及長仁五番坑坑口流出的礦水所匯集。若長期未逢下雨，則瀑布的水量稀少，僅剩涓滴水流或乾涸河床。但只要上游下雨，則水量充沛、澎湃洶湧，分成數條主流往下沖刷，非常壯觀。河床上的石塊呈現鮮艷金黃色，宛若大塊裸露的黃金，景觀十分特別。
