So on one fine day in Quito I finally made it to the summit of Volcano Rucu Pichincha ( 4,698 m ). The neighouring active volcano Guagua Pichinta ( 4,784 m ), lasted erupted in 1999 is just within reach. Unfortunately a smog in the valley of Quito below has shrouded out the famous view of the Valley of Volcanoes all the way to Chimborazo ( 6,268 m ).
