On Day one of my Fall Phototour, I drove through the Eastern Freestate. This area is truly beautiful with grass-covered hills and mountainous terrain.
Due to the long distances people travel in South Africa, the roadsides are dotted with little rest stops where you can get out your picnic baskets and have a quick meal or stretch your legs. For guys like us who want to take photographs or panoramas, these stops are ideal for taking a break and capturing the environment.
This specific rest stop is located just outside the village called Frankfort in the Eastern Freestate.
From here you can travel on to Golden Gate National Park or find a Guest house somewhere on a farm and take the most glorious night sky pictures
